unit one: world war one
WEEK FIVE
Wednesday, March 23 Sorry I missed you! I hope the Artifact Museum Tour went well today, and that you took notes on the film on the Treaty of Versailles. See you tomorrow! It's our final day of World War One, and your unit test is next week. Tuesday, March 22 For homework, please review your notes on World War One. The test will be here before you know it. Tomorrow we will have our Artifact Museum Tour. You will set up your artifacts and look at, and critique, others submissions during class. After the tour, we will continue to watch the BBC documentary on the Treaty of Versailles. You need to be sure to take notes. Monday, March 21 Well, no need to lecture again, but I am disappointed that so many of you let me down by failing to submit your artifact assignment - in spite of the extended deadline. All work is due tomorrow without exception. You will submit it at the top of class, before we head to the auditorium. We will have our walking tour on Wednesday, wrap up the unit on Thursday, and have our unit test on Tuesday, after the Easter long weekend. WEEK FOUR Friday, March 11 Don't forget: Your artifact project is due on Monday, March 21 -- right after the break. Enjoy your nine days, be sure to get your work done, and also be sure to get some rest and have some fun! Wednesday, March 9 For homework, print off and review any of the battle notes you did not work on in your group. Be sure any highlights not already in your notes are added before the unit test. NOTE: As discussed and agreed upon in class, the deadline for your artifacts and secondary sources has been bumped. You now have March Break to complete the work, so I have very high expectations. Don't let me down. Tuesday, March 8 The balance of your artifact creations and secondary sources will need to be finished on your own time. Please work on them tonight and again tomorrow night, as they are due on Thursday. We will postpone the World War One unit test until after March Break. :-) WEEK THREE Friday, March 4 No homework for the weekend. See some of you at the semi-formal tonight. :-) Thursday, March 3 YES FOLKS ... you have HOMEWORK TONIGHT. :-) Finish watching "Baptism of Fire: Ypres, 1915," and taking notes for tomorrow's "open notes" quiz. We stopped at 29:10, so you have about 17 minutes left to watch. Just click here. Wednesday, March 2 No homework for tonight. We were missing too many students today as a result of the weather. Please see the notes below if you want to know what we'll be doing tomorrow. If you were away today, remember to ask me for a copy of your summative task when you come to class in the morning. Tuesday, March 1 As mentioned in class, please add to your jot notes on "All Quiet on the Western Front." If we are here tomorrow, we will watch some more of the film and discuss at least two (2) of the four (4) key Canadian battles. P.S. Your unit summative will be discussed tomorrow, and you will have some lab time next week to work on it. That task is due Friday, March 11, and you will have your Unit Test that same day. Monday, February 29 No homework tonight, but you will be getting an assignment tomorrow that you will have about a week to complete. We will also watch some more of "All Quiet on the Western Front," and discuss the various battles involving our Canadian soldiers, including the technology that had at their disposal. WEEK TWO Friday, February 26 Okay, so officially, no homework for the weekend, but ... You should regularly review your notes. It will help you with the test. :-) Thursday, February 25 Okay, one last test -- now that I've told you that you failed my last test (see request below). If you read this tonight, put a note in your phone to hand me a piece of paper with your name and a happy face on it at 8:30am tomorrow. Wednesday, February 24 Well, looks like no one comes to the website because no one handed me a note today. :-( Tuesday, February 23 Let's see how many of you are actually checking the website each day. If you see this, tomorrow, please come into class and, without saying anything, quietly hand me a folded note that says, "Miss, I visited the website last night." :-) Monday, February 22 Tonight, please finish filling out your Propaganda worksheet. You can peek at the posters by clicking here. WEEK ONE Friday, February 19 Please remember to finish your MAIN Causes of World War One worksheet, including the short reflection. Some of you also have a map to complete. Thanks to Jacob for leading the class in taking up most of that worksheet today. Well done. Thursday, February 18 Great job with the role play today! For homework, please finish your Map of Europe, 1914, if you did not finish it in class today. You can click here for a picture of the map from page 63 of the textbook. Wednesday, February 17 No homework for tonight. Tuesday, February 16 Nothing for tonight, but please make sure you are caught up on any outstanding work. For example, a few of you still owe me your opinion pieces. :-) |
